Hobbies to Persue During Lockdown

With COVID-19 demolishing havoc all over the world, people are staying in isolation in order to fight against this pandemic. The lockdown is boosting the exhausted circumstance of isolation. This is the key to depression, anxiety and several mental health problems. Our lives are now centered on our mobiles, laptop, T.V. and our beds. The time for motivation has come and adopt a hobby.

Our frantic life hardly ever gives us the opportunity to carry on hobbies. Weekdays are spent in the rat race of careers, tasks and housework. Weekends are mostly enjoyed in the bed, napping away to our soul’s topic. Hobby helps us to reduce stress and build our total well being. It aids us to spend our time productively and wisely. From unfurling our creativity to acquiring new skills, hobbies make leisure time a lot more enjoyable.

I am going to list three hobbies which people can adore during this lockdown-

1. Writing:-

Do you know Shakespeare has written “King Lear” during his isolation of the plague years? So, you also pen down your thoughts in the form of quotes, blogging, articles or just let the words flow in the diary pages. Otherwise, you can search on Google for how to write poems or a fiction and start to write in your downtime. If your heart goes for to channel your imagination through silver screen, you must try a screenwriting course.

2. Reading:-

Remembering the words of the great Joseph Addison, we can quote ‘reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body’. When you are confined in the four walls of your house, reading numerous books can take you to several places with the help of imagination. So, you can adopt reading books, blogs and articles as your hobby. Bring the bookworm out of you.

3. Gardening:-

According to Jenny Uglow, “We might think we are nurturing our garden, but of course it’s our garden that is really nurturing us.” Gardening is such a hobby that one can enjoy regardless of age. Not only for hobby, but also we can adopt gardening for our health. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that moderate activity of 2.5 hours in garden can decrease the chances of numerous health problems including high blood pressure, stroke, heart disease and Type 2 diabetes. Gardening teaches about patience, responsibility and keeps us satisfied. It is said, “The love of gardening is a seed once shown that never dies.”
